Wilma Murto says that she received congratulations from the President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö and Jenni Haukio and the Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.
Wilma Murto received a real World Championship bronze medal on Thursday at the award ceremony. The medal was Murro’s first in a global prestigious competition, i.e. the World Championships or the Olympics.
– The atmosphere was great. Really great final yesterday, first global medal. Nice thing, it was any color. That prize distribution made it a reality, Murto commented to Urheilu.
– A really great moment. The gold medalists wondered about the number of Finnish flags, who really won, Murto laughed.
Foreigners wondered
Many athletics fans came to Budapest to watch Murto, but the final reached more than 2.1 million viewers in the home stands as well. This has also been updated with foreigners.
– Those numbers are absolutely incredible. They have been reviewed with foreign athletes. They have wondered a lot what kind of athletics country Finland is. They’ve been very impressed with the fan base that’s here. A little envy from abroad comes in our direction, Murto reveals.
Late on Wednesday night, Murto was showered with sparkling wine when he arrived at the hotel. He spent the evening at the hotel with the team, relatives and friends. After a short night’s sleep and cake and coffee, he arrived at the medal ceremony.
Taken from Congratulations
There have been many congratulations on the medal, and he hasn’t had time to go through them all yet. I remember the president Sauli Niinistön and Jenni Haukion and the Prime Minister Petteri Orpon contacts.
– The greetings of the President of the Republic and Jenni Haukio and the greetings of Petteri Orpo have been such that it is a bit surprising that I receive such. I’ve been really taken with them.
Murto is going to be exciting in the evening Silja Kosonen moukari final. Salolainen has also signed a contract with Kosonen, who is waiting for the Finnish record.
– Silja’s incredible thumbs up. We have a deal on downtime. It should go. I’m really looking forward to it. I’m not there watching, but I’ll be watching closely how he’s doing.
The World Championship bronze medalist will return to Finland early on Friday.
– I have to leave early, but it seems like a good idea right now, Murto summarized.
