The Diablo 4 Open Beta has left a void for many fans. Many are now fleeing to other games while waiting for the release. One thing has particularly impressed many players: Last Epoch, which is currently going steeply on Steam.
What kind of game is this? Roughly speaking, Last Epoch connects Diablo with Path of Exile and has been in Early Access on Steam since 2019. The game relies on a much greater variety and selection than the Blizzard model.
You can choose from 15 classes and over 100 skill trees and put together builds. As in any good ARPG, you’re constantly on the hunt for better gear and trying to perfect your character.
For years the ARPG only had a few hundred players, occasionally a few thousand. But in March, Last Epoch exploded on Steam with up to 40,500 simultaneous players. A record for the small indie project.

“Diablo 4 is more polished, but I still love Last Epoch”
What players say: According to a thread on Reddit, Last Epoch is the #1 game for everyone waiting for Diablo 4 to release. Blizzard have created a much prettier game, but the gameplay and mechanics in Last Epoch are excellent:
“Seriously, the character development in Last Epoch is top notch, the skill tree is amazing. The crafting is the best in the genre in my opinion. It’s not pretty, but the centerpiece is second to none.”

On Steam, Last Epoch has a rating of 85% positive reviews. Most players report that the systems are a bit more complex than Diablo, but otherwise the gameplay is absolutely gorgeous.
For some, Last Epoch may not be an adequate replacement for Diablo 4, but for this group, no game can probably currently fill the need. Diablo 4 got too many people excited.
When can I play Diablo 4 again? Diablo 4 will be released on June 6th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Another beta test is not planned in advance according to current information.

If you pre-order the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition, you can also start 4 days earlier, i.e. on June 2nd. However, pre-ordering does not have any other advantage. The first season starts a little later anyway.
