On September 10th, Satisfactory left Early Access. What the developers didn’t expect: The release caused the number of simultaneous players on Steam to increase tenfold.
What kind of game is Satisfactory? The construction game sends you to an alien planet where your task is to build a factory. To do this, you collect raw materials, create new production sites and transport routes and continue to expand your factory.
You can see the official release trailer for the game here:
While you search the planet for new resources, you will occasionally encounter dangerous wild animals. Exploration and combat are also part of the game, which you control entirely from a first-person perspective. You can also play alone or in co-op with up to three other players.
Player numbers on Steam are skyrocketing
How did the launch of version 1.0 go? The official release of the game has resulted in a significant increase in players: on September 9, Satisfactory still had around 10,000 simultaneous players according to SteamDB, and on the launch day of version 1.0, there were already 10 times as many.
The developers at Coffee Stain probably didn’t expect such a huge rush, as a message from the community manager on X (formerly Twitter) reveals:
“Before this week our highest CCU on Steam was 34k… I can’t tell you how crazy this is for me. Thank you all!”
At the time of this post, the game had reached a CCU (“concurrent users”) of almost 169,000. On Sunday, September 15, player numbers increased even further, reaching the current peak of over 186,000 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
The game was in Early Access for 5 years – first exclusively on the Epic Games Store for a year, then also on Steam. The developers have also already confirmed that they are working on versions for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Dead Island 2 is another game that has exceeded the expectations of fans and perhaps even those of the developers. In October, players of the zombie shooter will even receive a new game mode as a thank you. Read more about it here: A once thought dead co-op game with zombies is better than ever, and it’s free too
