GPs are therefore reaching their limits when hiring staff, training general practitioners and registering new patients, the LHV warns. The association hopes that cooperation with municipalities, the national government and health insurers can provide solutions. Such a joint approach is “necessary to prevent housing problems from leading to an even greater shortage of general practitioners and practice staff and even the disappearance of general practitioner practices from the neighbourhood,” says chair Mirjam van t Veld.
