The International Jamboree scout camp is being evacuated from the path of the approaching typhoon, the World Organization of Scouting announces in its announcement.
Typhoon Khanun is expected to hit the camp area in Saemangeum later in the week.
About 43,000 scouts from all over the world participate in the Jamboree camp. There are about 900 Finns in the camp.
The Finns are also moving away from the camp to shelters in South Korea, it is reported in the bulletin of the Finnish Scouts. The Finnish team will start dismantling the camp today, and the campers will move tomorrow.
The exact location of the evacuation facilities in Korea will be confirmed later. According to the release, the return to the home country will be carried out according to the planned schedule. The camp is scheduled to end on August 12.
Already in the past, the camp has been tested by intense heat, which is why some countries have decided to interrupt the camp for a short time.
