A Laan van Moscow in Utrecht, is that appropriate? ‘Make it an avenue of Kiev’

The Utrecht formation is going to be a tough one

“A street name is more than a history lesson; it is a tribute. Utrecht must therefore deal responsibly with naming street names,” according to councilors Titus Stam and Ilse Raaijmakers. They ask the college to consider a name change because of the war. The councilors suggest to change the Laan van Moscow to the Laan van Kiev/Kyiv, for example, “as a support and tribute to the hundreds of Ukrainian refugees who are now staying in Utrecht”.
