A journalist and a figure of the Burkinabe army kidnapped

In Burkina Faso, two new disappearances occurred on the same day. Last Saturday, journalist Alain Alain and Lieutenant Colonel Yves Didier Bamouni were both abducted, each from his home. The first is a well-known voice on the very popular radio station Oméga, the second is a figure in the Burkinabe army known for his role in the fight against jihadist terrorism.

The media group explains that the journalist, famous for his column “Le défouloir”, was abducted on Saturday July 13 at 5:00 a.m. from his home ” by armed hooded individuals “(…/…) who introduced themselves as agents of the National Intelligence Agency. They had promised his relatives to take him home before 8:00 a.m., in order to be on time for his show. Three days later, he is still missing.

In the evening, Lieutenant Colonel Yves Didier Bamouni was kidnapped from his home with one of his comrades. According to RFI, he had been sent to Niger as part of the defense agreements between the putschist Sahelian countries. He recently returned to Ouagadougou to prepare for an internship.

The high-ranking officer is well known to Burkinabe troops. Under the presidency of Roch Marc Christian Kaborehe commanded the National Commando Training Center of Pô, before being placed at the head of operations of the national theater in the anti-jihadist fight during the transition of lieutenant-colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba.
