In 2017 event organizer and volleyball enthusiast Wilco Nijland from Utrecht and former top volleyball player and board member of the NeVoBo Michael Everaert had an idea. A training form from beach volleyball could also be used as a form of competition. This is how the first King of the Court tournament in Utrecht was born. It turned out to be a success formula: five years later, King of the Court is extremely popular worldwide and in September the first European Championship will even take place in the Zomerstadion on Jaarbeursplein in Utrecht.
