In partnership with the UN refugee agency, the hiring platform Indeed and the Tent association organized a major job fair for the professional integration of refugees last Tuesday in Paris. More than 1,500 people participated. The objective is to connect businesses and refugees, but also provide them with the tools necessary to find employment.

Sitting at a table with an advisor, Bijou listens attentively to advice on how to improve her CV. Arriving from Kinshasa nine months ago, she has just obtained her refugee status.
“ In Congo, I worked for more than ten years in an American school. I was a receptionist », says the young woman. “And have you already tried to apply for jobs since you’ve been in France?” », asks the advisor. “ Oh… Many times I start applying from 5 a.m. until 9 a.m. ».
A relentless search that comes to nothing. Bijou is counting on this show to make a difference. “ I’m tired of staying at home, and now I tell myself that honestly, for the moment, I just need to work “, she explains.
Around thirty companies
Once the CV is completed, visitors tour the stands: IKEA, Burger King, L’Oréal… Around thirty companies made the trip. Several of them came with job offers, as Yasmine Leroux of the Tent France associationco-organizer of the event…
“ The most important element is meeting employers and having access to job offers. But we also wanted to provide a certain number of support services to refugee candidates to help them in their job search. », she explains.
Among these services, French tests, presentation workshops and administrative advice. So many essential and often neglected elements that contribute to the integration of refugees into the labor market.
