A huge Keanu Reeves flop disappears from Netflix of which

Keanu Reeves can once again assert himself as the box office king. John Wick: Chapter 4 is already the most successful part of the action series he led. However, if we go back a few years in Reeves’ filmography, we also discover one bitter flop: the 2013 fantasy epic 47 Ronin.

  • Only briefly on Netflix: 47 Ronin will be retired from Netflix streaming on May 15, 2023. If you haven’t seen the film yet or want to watch it again, this is your last chance to do so.
  • Fantasy epic starring Keanu Reeves: 47 Ronin flopped and still got a sequel

In 47 Ronin, Keanu Reeves takes on the role of lawless Samurai Kai, who was once found and raised as a foundling by a forest demon. As the story progresses, he joins the 47 Ronin led by Ōishi (Hiroyuki Sanada) against the villain Kira (Tadanobu Asano).

47 Ronin basically has everything a blockbuster needs to hit the big screen to shake properly. However, the film was a flop at the box office. The $175 million film only grossed $152 million worldwide. A losing proposition for everyone involved – at least almost.

Although 47 Ronin went down in cinemas, he established a franchise that was later continued with a second part. However, Blade of the 47 Ronin is one very free continuation of the material, which shifts the story to contemporary Budapest. The film was released in home cinemas on January 26, 2023.
