A historical embarrassment for Europe is emerging in LOL

The first international tournament of 2025 started in League of Legends: The First Stand. The European representatives are not G2 this year, the usual suspects, but the French team Karmine Corp. It runs down.

Karmine Corp loses the first two games against the weakest opponents

But it comes much worse, because Karmine Corp has lost the first two games against the “weakest participants” in the field:

  • First you picked up a 1–2 defeat against the US team Team Liquid
  • Today there was a 0–2 rubbing against the representative of the traditionally weak region, Asia-Pacific. You couldn’t even win a match against CBTC Flying Oyster, a team from Taiwan.

    • Against the “big boys” Hanwha Life Esports (South Korea) and top eSports (China), the team can hardly hope. It would be a huge surprise if Karmine Corp could now win a match.

    Why is it so embarrassing? In the past year, the strongest representative of Europe at MSI and Worlds was able to win at least a few games. The top European team was actually always better than the teams in the USA and certainly better than the “small regions”.

    But at “First Stand” you have now slipped down to the bottom.
