The women’s handball league saw a historic victory when Grankulla IFK beat Dicken 33–22 (16–9).
The most significant moment of the first half was seen a couple of minutes before the end, when Johanna Hilli passed the current players in goal statistics by Linda Cainberg.
Cainberg threw a total of 1,997 goals in his career. Now Hilli passed him by. In the second half, Hilli already broke the 2,000 goal mark.
– All I can say is that it feels really fun and great. I can probably be a little proud, Hilli told Sporten with a big smile on her face.
GrIFK took a seven-goal lead in the opening period. Dicken got within four goals in the second half at his best.
GrIFK now have 11 wins from their 11 matches of the season.
– As the reigning champion, you have to be good, right? Especially when we have almost the same material. There are things we can do better in the spring, but we are satisfied, Hilli said.
GrIFK’s defensive game in particular has been rock solid. According to Hill, there has been a lot of talk among the team about the aggressive defensive game.
– You can tell from the opponents that they are not terribly happy to come to wrestle with us.
In the second match of the day, BK-46 took on Atlas and won by a goal difference of 32–31.
