a highly successful show on TPMP

Cyril Hanouna is interviewed by the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into the allocation of TNT frequencies. The discussions on the excesses of the C8 host could be lively.

It’s the big day for Cyril Hanouna. The star host of C8 must be interviewed by the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into the allocation, content and control of authorizations for television services to be broadcast on TNT, this Thursday, March 14 from 2 p.m. If the Commission comes to an end, it ends with the declarations of two of the most exposed and criticized personalities of the Canal group: the presenter of Touche pas à mon poste targeted by (very) numerous calls to order, even sanctions of Arcom, and the main shareholder of the group in the person of Vincent Bolloré.

Cyril Hanouna’s hearing promises to be tense between the host and the deputies who sit on the Commission. The star of the small screen has already mentioned several times the summons of other presenters of the group, in particular from the CNews channel, and had defended his boss and friend Vincent Bolloré before the latter was heard. The man reiterated on the eve of his own hearing, pointing out, not without irony, the special treatment planned for him: “Tomorrow I will be auditioned from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and apparently, for me, they requested an exemption, I am the alone to have 2h30 and I’m flattered”. It would not be surprising if the host uses his usual recipe to put his hearing at the center of the debate during this Thursday’s episode of TPMP if the debates actually prove to be lively.

The numerous excesses of C8 questioned

Cyril Hanouna will be accompanied by Lionel Eisenstein, the general director of his production company H2O, during the audition. The questions addressed to the host should focus on the C8 channel, on which he officiates, and the numerous infractions of the rules which govern the contents of television broadcasts and theoretically necessary to respect in order to be maintained on the TNT frequencies.

More broadly, it is the operation of the Canal+ group channels, in particular CNews and C8, which is examined during these hearings. Cyril Hanouna, presented as close to Vincent Bolloré, but described by investigations as a man with significant influence on C8, should be questioned on this point as well. Questions related to the criticisms made to the group on the promotion of far-right ideas through the over-representation of certain politicians, also observed in Cyril Hanouna’s broadcasts, or to Vincent Bolloré on his interventionism with the channels could also be asked. .

The face to face between Hanouna and Boyard canceled

When discussing the excesses observed on C8 and more particularly in Cyril Hanouna’s broadcasts, one event risks attracting attention: the violent and numerous insults launched by Cyril Hanouna to the rebellious deputy Louis Boyard who was invited on the set in November 2022. For these comments, the channel was fined 3.5 million euros. The situation degenerated after the rebellious elected official criticized Vincent Bolloré.

MP Louis Boyard was supposed to attend the hearing and ask questions to Cyril Hanouna, after being appointed member of the Commission to replace an LFI colleague. But the political group announced the resignation of the elected official as well as two other of its representatives to the Commission only a few hours before the start of the hearing of the C8 host. The face to face meeting was expected and perhaps aroused concern. The decision to replace Louis Boyard could be due to possible risks of conflict of interest, the two men clearly having liabilities. Instead, it was the rebellious deputies David Guiraud, Rachel Keke and Sarah Legrain who joined the Commission.
