The story of the Marvel pioneer sounds really exciting. The accidentally blind martial arts superhero Matt Murdock/Daredevil gets in the way of a professional killer (Colin Farrell) during an assassination attempt. He and his boss Kingpin (Michael Clarke Duncan) are on his heels from now on. And Elektra (Jennifer Garner) also acts as the daughter of the attack victim blames the hero for her father’s death.

When it opened in cinemas, many critics accused the film of a lack of innovations (via Rotten Tomatoes). The New York Times named him “cheap and superfluous“. It flopped at the box office (via Boxofficemojo). But none of that compares to Ben Affleck’s disappointment.
He told Playboy:
The only movie I really regret is Daredevil. It kills me. I love this story, this character, and the fact that she’s screwed up like that just sticks with me. Maybe that was part of the motivation for playing Batman.
The Daredevil chapter seemed buried with it. But Netflix took on the fallen Marvel hero twelve years later. In his own series the streamer created an innovative and unusual hard story about its main character (Charlie Cox). Although the series was canceled three years later, it rehabilitated its prestigious hero. He’s set to make a new appearance on Disney+ soon.
