A Harry Potter actor only appears for half an hour in 8 films, but still got $500,000 per minute

An actor from the films about the wizard Harry Potter earned a lot in relation to his time on screen. Even more than the leading actor Daniel Radcliffe.

Which actor is it about? Already in the first part of the Harry Potter film series, Tom Felton played his character Draco Malfoy with complete dedication. The character’s nasty nature was reflected in his smug smile and condescending behavior.

Even back then, Draco was a textbook bully. He became Harry’s rival at Hogwarts, whether in wizard duels or in Quidditch, the broom sport that can now also be played virtually. Over the course of the story, however, Draco developed more and more into a fundamentally tragic figure.

Tom Felton, who played Draco in all eight films, really can’t complain about being paid too little. Because, based on his actual screen time, he is the frontrunner in terms of salary.

Lots of money for little screen time

How much did Felton receive? In relation to his time on screen, Felton earned more than any other actor, namely around 500,000 US dollars per minute of film.

In total, Malfoy only appears for 31 minutes and 45 seconds – in all eight films, which together have a running time of more than 19 hours.

This is surprising at first, since Felton is remembered as Malfoy and is one of the most famous characters from the world of Harry Potter. In the short time that the character is seen, however, the actor has made a lot of money.

Even lead actor Daniel Radcliffe can’t hold a candle to his colleague. Obviously, Radcliffe is seen much more often, which lowers his rate per minute – to a still respectable 160,000 US dollars. He was seen for 539 minutes.

Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who play Hermione and Ron, received $195,000 and $170,000 per minute respectively, but also appear less than Radcliffe. Compared to normal salaries, this all sounds incredibly absurd – just like Johnny Depp’s fee, who received a whopping $16 million for a spin-off of the Potter saga.

Alan Rickman, who played Snape, appeared for 45 minutes and was one of the biggest stars in the ensemble, especially at the beginning. His fee must have been considerable, but exactly how much he earned is not known. The only thing that is certain is that lead actor Daniel Radcliffe had some respect for the evil Snape – but today he is grateful for the time they spent together.
