Miners have found a pink diamond in Angola, believed to be the largest found in three hundred years. The 170-carat diamond found in the Lulo mine in the northeastern part of the country was named the Lulo rose after the place of discovery.

According to a release sent to investors by mining company Lucapa Diamond Company, the diamond is one of the largest pink diamonds ever found.

The found diamond is one of the rarest and purest natural stones of its type.

170 carats is 34 grams.

The diamond is sold based on offers

The Angolan government was also delighted by the discovery, as the country is a partner in the mine where the diamond was found.

– This record-breaking and spectacular pink diamond continues to prove that Angola is a major player on the world stage, Minister of Mineral Resources of Angola Diamantino Azevedo said.

The diamond is going to be sold on the international market based on offers. It is expected to fetch a huge price.

The diamond will probably be cut into parts and polished in order to realize its value as best as possible. The stone can lose half of its weight in this context.

The most expensive diamond sold to date has been the 59.6-carat Pink Star sold in Hong Kong in 2017, which sold for $71.2 million at the time.
