Samsung is expanding its range of gaming monitors with the Odyssey Neo G8, a 32-inch curved screen which has the particularity of displaying in UHD-4K up to a frequency of 240 Hz. An exceptional monitor for enthusiasts.

Nothing is too good for gamers. And for good reason: video game enthusiasts are among the most fond of new technologies, not hesitating to invest sometimes unreasonable sums to afford the best possible equipment, just to immerse themselves completely in virtual universes by benefiting the maximum photorealistic 3D rendering of the latest trending titles. Manufacturers have understood this well, by reserving the most efficient products for them, whether processor, graphics circuit, accessories and, of course, screen. This is particularly the case with Samsung, one of the biggest display specialists, which has just refreshed its range of Odyssey gaming monitors with several models, including the Odyssey Neo G8, an exceptional screen that should make many players dream by its characteristics.

Odyssey Neo G8: a technological showcase for Samsung

In fact, the Odyssey Neo G8 is a large curved screen, 32 inches diagonally – the equivalent of an 82 cm television – which already imposes physically. Featuring a matte panel that limits annoying reflections, it is mounted on a height-adjustable, rotating and tilting stand to adapt to different positions. But it is above all by its display possibilities that it stands out from the abundant competition: it is indeed the first screen of this format in ultra high definition (UHD-4K, i.e. 3,840 x 2,160 pixels) capable of working with a refresh rate of 240 Hz, moreover, with a gray-to-gray response time of 1 ms. Enough to ensure both fluidity, speed and stability in action games where every millisecond counts. Image quality is obviously not neglected: taking advantage of a VA-type panel, the Odyssey Neo G8 boasts an impressive maximum brightness of 2,000 nits and a static contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, with a rendering covering up to 95% of the DCI-P3 color space. Excellent characteristics due among other things to the use of Quantum Mini Led technology, which allows precise control of the backlight diodes. All this with compatibility with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, a frame rate management technique that is very popular with gamers.

It will be understood, the Odyssey Neo G8 is not designed for office automation: this very high-end monitor is mainly aimed at gamers. Above all, it serves as a technological showcase for Samsung in a market hungry for extreme performance. Announced for the current summer in France – while it is already available in other countries – the Odyssey Neo G8 will be sold at a high price, over 1,500 euros. An elitist price, especially when you know that you can find large OLED TVs – and with excellent image quality – at nearly 1,000 euros capable of displaying 4K at 120 Hz.
