Two youth groups clashed with knives in front of the sports center in Eskilstuna.

A clash between youth gangs in Eskilstuna, Sweden led to a major police operation.

According to eyewitnesses, two groups of about 20 people attacked each other on Thursday after noon near the Eskilstuna sports center.

Among other things, knives were used as weapons in the confrontation.

– It was a violent confrontation, says Aftonblad magazine interviewed by an eyewitness Frederick.

– When the three boys had been knocked to the ground, the others started running towards the center. The police came to the scene very quickly, Fredrik adds.

According to information from Aftonbladet, the boys were around 15 years old.

At least three boys who participated in the fight were injured and have been taken to hospital. The police won’t sayhow serious the injuries are.

Different types of percussion weapons were used in the confrontations, including knives. The police have cordoned off the area and are investigating the cases as attempted murder.

The middle school located next to the sports venue already had time to fear the worst. The schoolchildren were in the yard on the outdoor day before the summer vacation.

– We took all the students indoors, school principal Jenny Råström tells for the public broadcasting company SVT.

The students were reportedly not scared by the incident.

– They were more curious than worried, but their parents called the school and were afraid for their children.

Eskilstuna is a city of more than 70,000 inhabitants, located about 80 kilometers west of Stockholm.
