A gamer gets Diablo 4 for free because his beloved Nvidia graphics card suddenly dies

A gamer has his broken graphics card replaced. He not only gets a much faster model back, but also a code for Diablo 4, for which you normally pay 70 euros.

A broken graphics card is always annoying because the GPU is often the most expensive component of a gaming PC.

However, one user was now lucky in disguise. Because the seller from whom he bought the old graphics card not only offered him a faster model at no extra charge, but also included a game code for Diablo 4. At least it wasn’t Diablo 4 that broke his graphics card.

High corona prices help with a free upgrade

In a post, the player explained how it came about (via reddit.com). His graphics card broke and he contacted his seller. He first wanted to send him the same graphics card again, but probably didn’t have it in stock anymore.

Instead, he was offered an RTX 3070 from another manufacturer. The user explained that he bought his graphics card during Corona and paid almost 700 euros. He therefore asked the seller if they would send him an RTX 4070 as a replacement. It currently costs (at least in Germany) between 600 and 700 euros (via geizhals.de).

The seller agreed and included a code for Diablo 4 as a gesture of goodwill. Because Nvidia and Blizzard are currently running a campaign: there is a Diablo code for every RTX 4000 card sold.

He confirms his whole story with a screenshot from the email history with the seller.

How is the community reacting? Very positive. Many praise the seller and say that such an attitude is called good customer support. You not only exchange the graphics card, you also add a game code, although you don’t really have to. For example, someone writes: “When the retailer offers you a free upgrade when the card is defective. Then this is not your dealer, but a buddy.”

How do you even notice that the graphics card is broken?

Why a graphics card breaks down can have different reasons:

  • Bad maintenance.
  • Below average cooling.
  • Poor workmanship.
  • or simply the old age of the graphics card.
  • In fact, there are plenty of indications when your graphics card is about to die. If you regularly have graphical problems (so-called glitches and artefacts) that none of your friends have in the current game, then you should first update your software.

If the errors persist and the graphics card also makes strange noises, then you should take a closer look at the GPU.

Regular blue screens are also a sad indicator that your graphics card could say goodbye sooner or later.

And before you buy an expensive RTX 4000 graphics card: Many gamers are still playing with graphics cards that are years old and that is still completely sufficient for many:
