A game with 92% positive reviews reminiscent of Hades suddenly disappears on Steam – not even the developers know why

Rogue-likes have become particularly popular since the success of Hades on Steam. So it’s no surprise that other titles are also adopting Hades’ strengths. With 92% positive votes, “Realm of Ink” is definitely one of those representatives of the genre that is well received by gamers. Now his disappearance is causing confusion.

Why did the game disappear? Realm of Ink went into Early Access on Steam on September 27, 2024 and has received a lot of positive reviews since then (viewable via archive). But now the game has simply disappeared from the platform overnight and the shop page can no longer be found.

In addition to Realm of Ink, all of the publisher’s other games also appear to have disappeared on Steam. Especially since the full release of the game was recently postponed from January to March 2025 (via x.com), this circumstance is causing confusion and concern in the community (via Steam).

But not even the developers themselves know the reason for this. This is what they write in a post via Steam:

We would like to inform you that Realm of Ink has been removed from the Steam Store. Unfortunately, we currently do not know the exact reason for this action, but we are doing our best to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Accordingly, the developers are working on a solution to the problem. However, it is not yet clear whether and when the game will return to the store. However, players who have already purchased the game still have it in their library and can play it as usual.

A lot from Hades, but also enough of his own

Why was the game so well received? In Realm of Ink you first take on the role of Red, who wants to break out of her predetermined fate in a fictional world. While many parallels to the popular genre pioneer Hades are already visible in the trailer, Realm of Ink also offers a lot of its own.

The obvious Asian influences give the look a fresh touch. You also have cute companions with you that you can modify on the go with so-called Ink Gems. These also give you new abilities. Over time, you can also unlock many more characters with whom you can then escape.

Rogue-likes generally have a certain appeal that quickly leads to you sinking tons of hours into them. That’s how MeinMMO demon Cortyn felt when it came to just briefly distracting himself from other games: I wanted an evening’s distraction, then 100 hours were over
