With Endzone 2 you can currently test an exciting construction game on Steam. Many things are very reminiscent of the Anno series from Ubisoft.
With Endzone 2, developer Gentlymad Studios has introduced the successor to Endzone – A World Apart. The predecessor received a “mostly positive” rating of 78% from more than 7,000 reviews. So there is enough potential to make the successor even better.
Thanks to the strategy festival “Tacticon” on Steam, you can now try out a demo of Endzone 2. Some things are very reminiscent of the popular “Anno” construction series from Ubisoft: The Anno series will get a new offshoot in ancient times in 2025.
Endzone 2 relies on “islands” like the Anno series
What does this have to do with Anno? In the Anno series, since the first part, Anno 1602, you have been settling various islands to build your empire. Endzone now adopts this island principle.
The map of Endzone 2 is divided into areas that you can discover little by little. If you want to use such an area, you have to build a warehouse on the edge of the area. This is very reminiscent of Anno, where you have to build an office on the edge of the area. Each area offers you a limited number of fertilities. Sooner or later, like in Anno, you have to expand if you want to use all the resources.
Later, you have to build trade routes between the zones so that your resources are evenly distributed. This also gives us strong Anno feelings.
With your ship truck you can explore destroyed camps or buildings. In a kind of mini-game you explore the building and unlock resources or items that you can use.
Can you watch this? Take a look at the gameplay of YouTuber “Dr. Proof”, who was able to watch the demo for an hour and a half in his video. Other things, such as the minimap interface, are also very reminiscent of the popular building game from Ubisoft. Better to copy well than to invent badly yourself:
