Many new games were presented at the Game Awards. At first glance, one of them looks like a dream come true for cat and MMO fans. But some viewers suspect a scam like The Day Before.
What kind of game is this? The game is supposed to combine an open world with beautiful cats. The tags on Steam also include the MMO tag, which suggests that multiple players will meet in the title.
The description of the game is very general overall and only gives a rough idea of what should be possible in the game. In addition, the reveal trailer was only a cinematic trailer and did not yet show what kind of gameplay awaits players.
There are other reasons why fans suspect that there is something wrong with the game. They believe in a second “The Day Before” in which players were scammed in the worst possible way.
Maybe you can interpret what exactly Catly is from the following trailer:
Players suspect a second The Day Before at Catly
Why do fans think the game isn’t real? Not only the cat’s behavior, but also the entire graphics of the game are said to have been created using artificial intelligence. The game’s official site features wild clothing items like a coat with holes, a jacket that looks like a sleeping bag, and a coat made of flowers.
Fans have noticed that the description on the Steam page also contains strange quotes. Well-known personalities such as Thomas Vu (Executive Director of Arcane), Akira Senju (Japanese composer) and Ben Brode (Game Director of Hearthstone) are said to praise the game highly:
A triumph of innovation and heart, this cat MMO features an enchanting world that is a testament to the brilliance of its creators.

Many players don’t believe that the quotes were actually made by the people. Even Pokimane, who initially promoted the game, was convinced by her fans that something was wrong with Catly. After the community explained to her that AI was being used in the game, she deleted her promotional post on X.
In addition, the information about the developer is limited. There is currently no published game from the developer. The three employees that the development studio will have include co-founder Kevin Yeung and social media manager Wency Chao (via RocketReach).
The studio is said to be working not only on Catly, but also on Plantly, a counterpart with plants. Although the team hasn’t developed a single game yet, Catly is talking about a AAA title.
A user on X further discovered that Kevin Yeung is a proponent of NFTs and crypto. The development studio previously existed under the name TenthPlanet, which tried to develop and market block chain games. Yeung is said to have now deleted the information.
More and more developers are relying on NFTs and blockchain games. Ubisoft is also jumping on the bandwagon and has published its first block chain game. You can read here what exactly that is and what kind of prices you have to expect: Ubisoft publishes 1st block chain game with NFTs, which are as expensive as a big BMW
