A frog was found in the world that says quaak

The researchers heard a sound from the Indian swamp that resembled the quacking of a duck. It was a frog.

A new species of frog has been discovered in India. It says “quack”.

The species has a two-note sound that resembles the quacking of a duck. The species was discovered in research in 2022 and was named after the Noa-Dihing river.

A British person tells about it University of Wolverhampton.

– At first, we heard a sound from the swamp near the Noa-Dihing river, which resembled a wild elk: “quaak, quaak, quaak”. We’ve never heard anything like it before, Frog Scientist Deepak Veerappan says in the university’s press release.

Veerappan says that the frog grows to a size of six centimeters and is characterized by a pale, cream-colored stripe down the middle of the body.

The researchers made the discovery at night using a flashlight while looking for frogs. This is already the third new frog species discovery during the year from the same area in the Indian Tiger Reserve. The researchers believe that with further research, more populations of the floating frog could be found.

According to Veerappan, discoveries like this highlight the importance of protecting the animals’ habitat.
