Set up by the Finnish government, it is free and accessible to all in several languages, including French, and can be followed on a computer or mobile device. Its aim is to democratize access to artificial intelligence. As a result, it does not require any prerequisites in computer science, programming or coding. In short, it is aimed at anyone who wants to learn. No reason to deprive yourself of it, therefore, whatever your level of knowledge in technology or computer science: curiosity is your best asset!
Elements of AI: a MOOC open to all
Developed by Teemu Roos, a professor of computer science at the University of Helsinki, and the innovation firm Reaktor, this distance learning course on the Internet offers 30 hours of courses divided into 6 chapters. The program covers the following points:
- What is artificial intelligence?
- Solving problems with AI;
- The real world of AI;
- Machine learning;
- Neural networks;
- The implications of artificial intelligence.
At the end of the program, you will have understood the major implications of the adoption and use of artificial intelligence, will be able to adopt a civic and critical stance with respect to current events and assumptions in the media and in discourses on artificial intelligence. You will know exactly what artificial intelligence is and you will be able to explain the methods that make AI possible. You will even receive a certificate (non-degree) to attest that you have followed the entire training curriculum.
This MOOC is already a great success, with 145,000 participants from 80 countries already taking part. The Finnish government hopes to eventually reach 1% of its population, or more than 50,000 people. Statistics show that the program is accessible to everyone, as it reaches a diverse audience. For example, 40% of those registered are women and more than 25% of MOOC participants are over 45 years old. So why not give it a try?
