A forest fire rages in Norberg in Västmanland

Wind turbines between Avesta and Norberg have had to be shut down in connection with the extinguishing work of the forest fire outside Norberg in Västmanland, reports SVT News Dalarna.
– We have had to turn off our machines to facilitate the extinguishing work, says Lars Laurin, information officer at Vindkraft Sverige AB, to SVT, and adds that the nearest wind power plant is 700 meters from the fire-ravaged area.

Several helicopters water-bombed the area during the morning, SOS Alarm tells TT.

The operation will continue for most of the day and there was no forecast at 8 o’clock.

– It is an ongoing operation but no one has been injured, says Martin Olofsson, team leader at SOS Alarm.

The fire started on Midsummer Eve and flared up again on Monday evening, according to P4 Västmanland.

Räddningsregion Bergslagen states to the radio that the fire area is approximately six hectares in size.
