In Croatia, around 70 firefighters and three aircraft are currently extinguishing a forest fire raging near the tourist destination of Trogir. According to the authorities, the fire started on Thursday evening.
According to Croatian fire officials, fire crews have managed to prevent the fire from spreading to the houses and hotel complex, and they are no longer in immediate danger.
A fire near Trogir on the central Adriatic coast is under control and more firefighters have arrived in the area, fire officials said in a statement.
– There is no problem with houses and tourists, fire chief Slavko Tucakovic said.
Croatian public broadcaster HRT says that the fire engulfed a large forest area near the campsite in the village of Seget Donji by the sea.
In recent weeks, Croatia has suffered from a prolonged heat wave, and the temperature has risen above 37 degrees. Even today, 36 degrees of heat is predicted for Trogir.
Vacation trips to Trogir, located in the Split region, are also made from Finland.
