According to the news of Sudan’s official news agency SUNA, diplomat John Godfrey has been appointed as the US Ambassador to Khartoum.
FIRST SINCE 1996
Godfrey became the first US Ambassador to Khartoum to be appointed since 1996, when diplomatic relations between the two countries were severed.
Godfrey, who is the US Vice President of Mission in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, served in the United Nations Mission in Vienna, the Iraqi, Libyan and Syrian embassies. (AA)
