Russian President Vladimir Putin went to Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, for the first time in 24 years. Putin, who met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Vladivostok, Russia, last September, accepted Kim Jong Un’s invitation during this meeting.
STATEMENT FROM THE USA: ‘WE ARE WORRIED’
A new statement came from the USA regarding Putin’s visit. The United States has stated that it is concerned about the recent “deepening” of relations between Russia and North Korea.
White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby answered questions at the daily press conference. Asked about Putin’s trip to North Korea on June 18-19, Kirby replied, “We are not worried about this trip. Our concern is the deepening of relations between the two countries.”
