Performance problems have been plaguing the MMORPG Lost Ark for weeks. Players complain about lag, stuttering and other issues. But you can greatly improve some of them with just a few clicks. We at MeinMMO explain how this works.
Where is the problem? For several patches, fans have been complaining more and more often about performance problems in Lost Ark. The game doesn’t seem to run as smoothly as it did at first. Smaller lags, stutterers and whole “freezes” are unfortunately the order of the day.
Our author Mark Sellner has also had this experience. The problem affects players with devices of all performance levels. Whether you have a budget gaming PC or a high-end machine, Lost Ark sometimes just doesn’t want to run smoothly.
A user on reddit has now identified one of the reasons for this problem and shows that it can be played much more smoothly with just a few clicks. We at MeinMMO have checked the method and can confirm it.

What exactly is the problem? It may sound absurd, but the poor performance could actually be due to the MMORPG’s chat. In fact, the main chat window is responsible for a lot of the disrupters and lag.
It just seems to load too much and most importantly it’s constantly there if you leave the default settings as they are. It’s also not the first time that Lost Ark has had problems with its chat, back then a little love could crash the game.
This is how you improve your performance
What can you do about it? You have to empty your main chat, i.e. the window that is activated by default. This works best if you no longer let certain things be displayed and only see the real chat.
To do this, click on Chat window settings in the chat window and remove everything that you do not always want to see. In our case, we removed Help, Errors, Warnings, Loot, Group Loot, Experience, and Currencies from the main window.
Once you have done that, you can create a completely new, alternative chat window and reactivate these things there. You can then switch to the second chat window at any time to view the information when you need it.
Don’t forget to click on “Apply” at the end so that the settings are saved. In addition, you are not allowed to end the game afterwards with Alt+F4, as is common for many. The unexpected closing of the client then ensures that Lost Ark does not remember your settings and you will have the same problem the next time you start the game.
This is the trick: The main chat window then only has the actual messages activated and is therefore no longer so flooded. This actually results in Lost Ark running much smoother. We can’t give an exact number here because the game doesn’t necessarily fall behind in FPS even with bugs, but has other negative effects.
However, the stuttering and occasional freezes decreased significantly in our tests, which is why you should definitely try this option if your Lost Ark also tends to have these problems.

What are the fans saying? After the post got big on reddit, the creator is showered with praise and thanks. But people are also puzzling over what could be the technical origin of this problem. However, the little trick with the chat seems to help most users.
