The Finnish men’s floorball team defeated Sweden 6–3 in the final match of the tournament played in Switzerland.
The Finnish men’s floorball national team had a pleasant end to the EFT tournament played in Switzerland, when they defeated the reigning world champion Sweden 6–3 in the final match of the tournament.
Finland lost its opening two matches of the tournament, when first Switzerland beat Finland 4–1 and on Saturday the Czech Republic was stronger with a score of 5–3.
Finland got off to a fast start to Sunday’s final match, when Justus Kainulainen shot Finland into the lead after five seconds of play. Eemeli Salin beautified the lead to 2–0 in the middle of the set with superiority.
In the middle of the match, Finland already ran away with three goals Nico Salon by hitting However, Sweden rose to the level in the final set.
Finland got a strong end to the match, when Joona Rantala succeeded first from a penalty shot and a moment later with superiority. With the final score 6–3, Justus Kainulainen scored an empty net.
The goalkeeper was awarded as the best player in Finland Oskari Fälden, who recorded 18 saves.
Finland will play one more EFT tournament in Rauma in October before the World Championships starting in Malmö in early December. In the previous World Championships, two years ago, Finland missed out on bronze.
