Here is Charlotte Kalla’s message of joy.
The skiing icon is pregnant.
“A dream I longed for”, she writes.
It was after the last season that Charlotte Kalla announced that her career is over. Kalla was perhaps Sweden’s most popular athlete for a long time, and her success on the track has been unparalleled in Swedish cross-country skiing.
Charlotte Kalla is pregnant
Charlotte Kalla is one of Sweden’s most successful female Olympians ever. During four games, she won a total of nine medals, three of which were gold. When Kalla ended her career, she could also look back on three WC golds, six WC silvers and four WC bronzes. Since retiring from cross-country skiing, Kalla has talked openly about how well she enjoys her new life, and how little she actually misses competing.
And now comes the next big announcement for the skiing icon. On Instagram, Kalla announces that she is pregnant. Kalla has posted a picture with a board where the text reads: “New skier in town summer 2023”, together with a picture of an ultrasound.
“If everything goes well, the summer of 2023 will mean the biggest change of my life. We are going to be parents!”, she writes.

“Feels very surreal”
Charlotte Kalla writes further about the feelings of becoming a parent.
“We are happy, full of anticipation and happy, even if it still feels very surreal! One step at a time towards something incredibly long-awaited, a dream I longed to experience!”.
Charlotte Kalla continues:
“I’ve been feeling well the whole time and it feels special to be able to share this home with you right now!”.
Charlotte Kalla is not the only retired skier who is currently pregnant. A few months ago, Therese Johaug, who also ended her career after last season, also announced that she is pregnant.
