A dramatic minute in the match between Pelicans and KalPa – HIFK knocked down Luko again, but the most talked about was the dunk of top scorer Ilari Melarti

A dramatic minute in the match between Pelicans and KalPa

The match series between Tappara and KooKoo continues on Tuesday, other series on Wednesday. The Puhe Ice Hockey Tour is there. Tuesday will also see the third final of the Women’s League HIFK–Kiekko-Espoo.

KalPa experienced two big setbacks in the third quarter-final of the hockey league in Lahti. The team lost to the Pelicans with 1-2 goals after losing their lead 61 seconds before the end of the three-set.

Only 19 seconds before the final buzzer Tyler Kelleher hit for the second time and turned the match wins for Lahti to 2–1. He has scored 11+7=18 in the 18 spring games of Sweden and Finland this and last season.

– It was a fun win. The whole match was a hard fight. I’m very happy how our team didn’t give up in a losing position, Kelleher said in an interview with Puhe’s Jääkiekkokierros.

A lot happened before Kelleher’s winning goal. KalPa had a chance to take the lead when the third set had been played at 7:21. Pelicans guard Patrik Bartosak figured it out Juuso Könenen penalty kick.

However, Könönen scored the lead goal for Kuopio with five minutes left in the match.

When Kelleher equalized in 58:59, in the same situation KalPa’s number one goalkeeper Juha Jatkola was injured and was taken to the locker room. Consequently, the Swedish keeper came to KalPa’s goal for the last minute Robin Rahm. In the last minute, he managed to block one puck and let one behind his back.

– I don’t know the diagnosis yet, let’s investigate, KalPan pilot Tommi Miettinen said his number one guard about the situation according to STT.

– We improved from the previous Lahti game, but away from home, our top game is yet to come. There were a lot of bad accidents at the end.

KalPa goal scorer Könönen acknowledged the loss calmly to the Ice Hockey round.

– We know that team (Pelicans) won’t beat us four times, Könönen said.

For Pelicans, gray hair is caused by superiority. It has been goalless for just under 25 minutes, and KalPa has also scored once underpowered. On Monday, with the hosts’ first advantage, the guest was closer to the goal, the advantage dried up Joni Ikonen to freeze.

Tappara on a parade march to the semifinals

Tappara didn’t give KooKoo a break this time either, but took the second tie for the semi-final spot with a score of 6–1.

At Puhe, expert Topi Nättinen believed that the Kouvola residents’ lunches have been eaten. The match series continues already tomorrow.

– Tomorrow comes too quickly. KooKoo had to squeeze in the last two or three weeks of the regular season. Then against a completely rested Tappara. Looks like the match series will go 4–0. One win can be squeezed by KooKoo by accident, precisely by accident.

Nättinen pointed out that it is also an important skill that the top teams are able to pack up a series of matches quickly and get more important rest days as the playoffs progress.

Taponen and Pakarinen HIFK’s heroes

HIFK beat Luko for the second time in the quarterfinals, now in overtime 1–0, and took a 2–0 lead in the match series. Finished the only one of Monday’s nitro mittel Iiro Pakarinen in the overtime in 65.58.

– The team grows and fights for each other. It’s great to be behind the bench. Now the third round in this match will start soon, HIFK’s head coach Ville Peltonen referred to the dawn of Wednesday.

The goalkeepers came into the limelight early on in the extremely even and tough fight. HIFK is among the league’s elite defenders Roope Taponen and Lock Artyom Zagidul from both easy and impossible situations, the booths unfailingly took a good hour.

Both had time to experience the mutual reset. In February, HIFK left the hosts from Rauma without a goal in a 3–0 victory, and in October, Lukko sent HIFK home from their rink with a 2–0 result.

There were plenty of scoring opportunities for both now, but in the end a ghost save or a post prevented the finish.

HIFK’s defender produced his own element of tension Ilari Melartin cross checking Anrei Hakulinen face off at the end of the second set. Melart was passed in the shower with a 5+20 minute ice cold, but Lukko couldn’t finish in his best search time.

Melart’s trick surprised Puhe at the Ice Hockey Tour. Presenter Jussi Paasi considered the solution “the stupidest in the universe”.

– Now you can say that you can’t pat Melart very gently. Now it’s over, said the head coach of the Lions Jukka Jalonen C Morella (you switch to another service).

The SM League announced shortly after the match that the situation room has checked Melarti’s hit on Hakulise and the situation will proceed to the disciplinary delegation. So an additional ban may well be on the way.

In Monday’s fourth quarter-final, Ässät defeated Ilves 5–2. More about Pori’s puck charm in this article.
