In the province of Düzce in northern Turkey, a bear cub was rescued that had behaved in a special way. The bear was swaying and dozing and was in poor condition when it was lifted onto the car’s platform.
The rescuers thought that it had eaten “crazy honey”, which had caused the bear to be confused and poisoned.
The honey in question, made from the honey of alpine roses, has been called Del bali or “crazy honey” in Turkey, because the substance in the honey causes hallucinations.
The bear was taken to a veterinarian, where it was being treated and is likely to be released into the wild in the next few days, local officials said. The bear was said to be in good condition.
The Ministry of Agriculture asked Turks to come up with a name for the rescued bear.
