A delicious fundraiser at Dunwich United Church

On Monday, June 12, a wonderful group of pie makers gathered once again at Dunwich United Church to craft their amazing, delectable pie-making art.

The crop of scrumptious desserts includes 92 full pies and tops for 60 more rhubarb and strawberry-rhubarb pies, which had been preordered as part of the church’s fundraising drive.

Each person had an assigned role in this efficient and hard-working assembly line, from rolling out pastry for pie shells and lids, mixing the ingredients, like sugar, flour and fruit, filling the pies, adding lids if needed, and then bagging and carefully putting them in the large walk-in freezer until they could be delivered or picked up.

On other occasions, 10- and five-inch diameter pies are also made with beef, chicken or turkey, and are sold by pre-order.

This group also made the covers for 800 tops for the five-inch meat pies after catching their breath on Monday! Stay tuned for coming pie orders.
