Tunisia’s Ministry of Interior announced that a cell consisting of women was destroyed on suspicion of “membership of a terrorist organization”.
In a written statement from the ministry, it was stated that the security units affiliated to the Carthage National Security Zone in the capital Tunis received information that there was a clash in a neighborhood in El-Kram, north of the capital, and that the parties were throwing flammable materials at each other.

Thereupon, it was noted that 8 women were detained in a raid by security units on one of the houses in the region, and a search warrant was issued for 6 of them on suspicion of being members of a terrorist organization.
In the statement, which did not provide further information on the cell or organization to which the women in question belonged, it was stated that operations against “terror cells” would be carried out from time to time.
Tunisia has been the scene of terrorist acts since May 2011. Terrorist acts, the frequency of which has increased in the country since 2013, has cost the lives of many security personnel, military personnel and foreign tourists so far. (AA)
