A contestant on 7 vs. Wild really wanted to be there, drops out after 7 days – now explains why

We have known that the third season of 7 vs. Wild is tough since Fritz Meinecke left. However, one candidate really wanted to be there, but dropped out after just 7 days. Now he explains why he made this decision.

Who is the person you are talking about? The replacement, Jan Schlappen (25), really wanted to be part of the third season of 7 vs. Wild. Now he threw in the towel on day 7 and was picked up by the organization team by helicopter. The freerunner was only a replacement candidate and only found out about it shortly before the suspension.

This is particularly bitter for Joey Kelly, Jan Schlaufen’s team partner. By picking up Jan Schlappen, the outdoor expert counts as eliminated, even if he stays alone in the wilderness at his own request.

The bonus episode, which shows the rest of the adventure from Joey Kelly’s perspective, comes to YouTube after the regular season 3.

One of the participants in season 3 is the Twitch streamer Jens “Knossi” Knossalla. You can see more about him in our video.

Exhaustion was the main reason for the elimination

Why did Jan Schlappen let himself be picked up? In a video statement on YouTube, the freerunner commented on his departure from the show. Above all, the exhaustion bothered the 25-year-old.

The little food that was available on site and the hard work on the team’s cave, which they wanted to convert into a shelter, took a toll on the candidate.

Loneliness and boredom were also important points in his decision. According to his own statements, the 25-year-old got along well with Joey Kelly, but things would probably have been easier for him with someone Jan Schlappen had known better.

Because there was nothing to do other than strenuous work, the participant found the time mentally exhausting.

It developed more and more to the point that I no longer saw any point in this hard work and this physical deterioration, but instead thought to myself, okay, on day 3, day 4, we have to spend some nice time here with ourselves, with each other Go foraging and get along well. Because this endless boredom, this toil, which in my head was completely in vain, is increasingly leading to me no longer feeling at ease and I don’t know how to pass the time.

Jan Schlappen in his video statement

What happened to Joey Kelly? Jan Schlapen said in the video statement to Joey Kelly: “Joey wasn’t much help to me in that case because it was something very normal for him. […]“

Looking back at the time, Jan Schlappen finds that he “had a huge problem, [s]I open up to Joey […]“

Many different factors led to Jan Schlappen’s departure. In addition to the physical and mental exhaustion, the loneliness he felt due to his not-so-good connection with Joey Kelly was another reason for Jan Schlappen’s departure. Another ex-participant is currently going viral with a new project, but the 7 vs. Wild founder doesn’t really like it.
