The 2000s were a wild time for action cinema. Nothing was too edgy, no crazy idea was dismissed as too strange. Everything was so super cool that it almost tipped over into the silly again and an iconic soundtrack couldn’t be missing either. But sometimes you just need this bizarre mix Coolness, crazy ideas and unfiltered fun.
Such a premium mix awaits you in Timur Bekmambetov’s action film Wanted. Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy in the main roles alone offer enough explosiveness. But the truly unique action concepts take the trip factor to the extreme. You can easily stream these fireworks on Netflix. Buckle up, lean back, let yourself be carried away.
In Wanted, a normal guy gets drawn into an underworld of killers and secret societies
Wes (McAvoy) lives perhaps the most boring life in the world. He has a run-of-the-mill office job, is unhappy in his broken relationship, and lets his superiors treat him like a doormat. But then one day the mysterious Fox (Jolie) suddenly appears in front of him turns everything upside downwhat he thought he knew about himself.
Wes now learns that his recently deceased father was a member of one Secret society for assassins. They use their deadly abilities in the service of humanity, guided by ancient prophecies. And like his father, Wes has extraordinary skills that make him the perfect killer.
Now there isn’t much time left: his father’s killer is also on Wes’s heels and wants to kill him next. Wes has to learn to master his skills and learn the craft of murder to protect yourself and others. But not everything is as it seems within the secret brotherhood.
Wanted on Netflix is a crazy action fireworks display that is rarely seen today
If you just pay attention to the synopsis, Wanted doesn’t actually seem that unusual. But underneath the John Wick-esque disguise there is a colorful bouquet of crazy ideas and action sequences waiting for you Style, dark humor and ingenuity bring along.
From shooting techniques that involve bending and adjusting bullet trajectories to seemingly impossible car chases, everything is on offer here that would otherwise fizzle out in the first drafts of a late-night brainstorming session. Our secret society also hides origins that are incredibly difficult to find.
None of this would have any place in today’s mostly polished action blockbuster culture. Individually, the ingredients may seem more than strange. But in combination they create an overall picture that is incredibly fun and entertains from the first to the last second. In addition, there is a skilful production that actually unironically coolly stages what shouldn’t work.
So if you’re looking for a truly unusual action trip, this is it on Netflix with Wanted definitely get it.
