A 5-year-old child died after being struck by a school bus on Monday, February 24, in Vallet, in Loire-Atlantique. The circumstances of the accident remain unclear, but several tracks seem to be dismissed.
A road accident that turns into drama. A five-year-old child died after being struck by a school bus on Monday, February 24 around 5.30 p.m., in Vallet en Loire-Atlantique. The little boy left his home located in the small hamlet of the scooter chalouse when he collided with the transport vehicle which took a turn on a narrow road reports Ouest-France.
The circumstances of the fatal accident are still uncertain and in the process of checking. The testimonies of the protagonists and the few witnesses do not mention an excessive speed of the school bus, while the screening of the narcotics and the alcohol made on the driver of the vehicles proved to be negative. The gendarmes of the Laroux-Bottereau research brigade are in charge of investigations.
The little boy struck by the school bus did not survive, despite his care by the emergency services which intervened on site. Nineteen firefighters and twelve machines were mobilized after the accident. The driver of the public transport vehicle and the children present on board were also taken care of. The driver was taken to a CHU after Ouest-France. “The driver of the school bus, although very marked, and five other children present in the vehicle are unharmed”, according to a source close to the file to the local media.
A psychological unit was set up in the large room in Champilambart, in Vallet, on Monday evening. Thirty people were welcomed there, most of them are close to the deceased child.
