A celebrated sci-fi strategy game is getting a new expansion for its birthday and it turns you into a villain

The sci-fi strategy game Stellaris has received a new expansion that, among other things, presents players with a new endgame crisis.

What game is this about? Stellaris is a sci-fi strategy game on Steam best known for its huge variety of selectable civilizations and playstyles. It is being developed by the Swedish studio Paradox Entertainment. They have delivered over 15 DLCs for the game in recent years.

  • Stellaris is one of the so-called 4x real-time strategy games, similar to Civilization or Crusader Kings.
  • The game is about exploration, expansion, exploitation and extinction.
  • With its abundance of races and sliders that are available right from the start of the game, the game can be very tiring, especially for newcomers to the genre.
  • There are countless resources and mechanics to consider in the game, which makes Stellaris a very complex strategy game. As a Terminator, getting started is made a little easier for you.
  • With “The Machine Age,” Stellaris is now getting another expansion on Steam that, among other things, can turn you into a villain:

What new content is there? The expansion brings some new content and changes to the game. You can read the exact patch notes on the Stellaris Wiki.

  • New Endgame Crisis and Crisis Path: In the new endgame crisis, players can face a new synthetic threat. On the new crisis path, however, you yourself can become a threat to the balance of the universe.
  • Individual machines: You can further customize your empire with three new machine advancement paths. The machine empires are no longer limited to just one form.
  • New situations and expanded authority changes: Every decision as players delve deeper into the minds of the machines matters and changes the rise of your empire.
  • Divine calling, fertility and new robot society

Three new origins come into play:

  • Cybernetic Confession: Your empire pursues the new divine calling of merging the body and cybernetics.
  • Synthetic Fertility: A genetic disease renders your empire unable to reproduce biologically. To prevent your downfall, the only option is digital salvation.
  • Arc welder: Due to a lack of space in their world, a robot society searches for resources in the universe.
  • The sci-fi strategy game Stellaris is one of MeinMMO author Schuhmann’s favorite games on Steam. Last year he reported in detail about the game for you: In my favorite game on Steam I eat the universe – resistance is pointless
