The prisoner exchange and cease-fire agreement between Israel and the extremist organization Hamas is welcomed.
Early Wednesday, the Israeli government approved a cease-fire agreement with Hamas.
According to the Israeli government, the ceasefire will last for four days. The time of the ceasefire will be announced later on Wednesday.
It is likely to take at least 24 hours for the ceasefire agreement to be implemented, as Israeli citizens have the option of appealing to the country’s highest court to block the release of Palestinian prisoners.
Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu vowed in a statement to continue the war against Hamas after the end of the ceasefire.
According to Qatar, which negotiated the ceasefire, the parties have also promised to release prisoners.
Hamas promised to release about 50 hostages
The extremist organization Hamas said early on Wednesday that it would accept the cease-fire agreement with Israel and release the hostages.
According to Hamas, thanks to the cease-fire, Gaza will receive badly needed humanitarian aid.
Hamas is waiting for hundreds of trucks in the Gaza Strip, which will bring food, medical supplies and fuel to the area.
Hamas also said that despite the ceasefire, its fighters remain on alert in case of an Israeli attack.
The United States, Egypt and Qatar negotiated a ceasefire
President of the United States Joe Biden highly welcomes the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, The White House said in its press release.
Biden says that he is “extremely happy” about the creation of the agreement, and estimates that more American hostages, who have been held by Hamas since October 7, will be released through it.
– I will not stop until they are all released, Biden swears.
Biden thanked the sheikh of Qatar who participated in the negotiation of the agreement Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and the President of Egypt Abdel-Fattah El-sisi.
Biden says he appreciates Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s dedication to reaching a cease-fire agreement and estimates that the agreement will “alleviate the suffering of innocent Palestinian families in Gaza.”
Biden does not thank the representatives of the terrorist organization Hamas.
Russia and the EU say they are satisfied
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen recently commented on the ceasefire agreement.
Von der Leyen said he was satisfied that the 50 Hamas hostages would be released.
– The EU is doing everything to take advantage of the cease-fire in Gaza. We are trying to get as much humanitarian aid to the region as possible during the ceasefire, says von der Leyen, according to the statement.
The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry also commented on the cease-fire agreement between Hamas and Israel.
– Russia welcomes the four-day ceasefire agreement, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova wrote In Telegram.
Director of the human rights organization Human Rights Watch Omar Shakir is relieved that there is finally a ceasefire in violence-ridden Gaza.
He emphasizes that the civilians of Gaza have experienced immense suffering in recent weeks due to Israel’s military actions.
President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan already last week demanded Israel to stop hostilities against Hamas fighters and agree to a ceasefire.
Erdoğan has not commented on the recent ceasefire so far.
Turkey has already promised to help in the reconstruction of Gaza once a ceasefire is reached in the area.
