A popular building game on Steam is planning a full release at the end of the year. Until then, the developers are working on switching to Unreal Engine 5, among other things.

What game is this about? Satisfactory is a building game on Steam that started early access in 2019. To date, the game has been able to convince its players quite well and receives a strong 97% positive reviews.

How does Satisfactory want to convince? The developers of the building game are currently working on the full release, which is planned for the end of 2024. For this purpose, among other things, a switch to Unreal Engine 5 should take place.

PCGamesN had the opportunity to take a closer look at the current development status of the game and reported on their impressions. All information we currently have comes from this report.

What will be particularly interesting is the change to a better engine. The developers originally started the revision in Unreal Engine 5.2. They are now said to have moved on to 5.3 as this offers more potential for the future.

While this left players with older systems behind, Community Manager Snutt Treptow said the team decided that more people would ultimately benefit from the progress.

Better graphics and new features until release

The new technology should not only improve the game’s graphics, but also run much more smoothly and pleasantly. The developers are also currently experimenting with more sophisticated lighting effects.

Some features should also be revised or find their way into the game by the time of release. For example, Update 8 already focuses on an interesting feature that allows players to continue to operate their buildings for a certain period of time even if the power supply fails.

In return, they have the opportunity to connect their factories to different power supplies and thus ensure a constant supply of energy. In a game that strives for automation, this seems like a really good feature to achieve that goal.
