A bomb was smuggled into the Hamas leader’s house – already two months before the murder

The bomb that killed Hamas’ top leader on Wednesday night was secretly smuggled into the heavily guarded compound where Haniyeh used to stay when he visited Iran. This is stated by sources for the newspaper The New York Times. According to the information provided by seven Middle Eastern officials, including two Iranians, and one American official, the bomb was placed in the apartment complex two months before the assassination and detonated remotely. Among other Iranian media have previously reported that the Hamas leader was killed by a missile fired from another country. The complex where Haniye lived was said to have been used for secret meetings and as accommodation for “prominent guests”, the paper reports. Reminiscent of assassination of nuclear scientist According to IRGC members, the precision of the hit is reminiscent of the remote-controlled machine gun used by the Mossad to kill Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizade in 2020. Haniyeh had arrived in Tehran on Tuesday to attend the inauguration of Iran’s new president Masoud Pezeshkian. Israel has still not commented on the incident, but Hamas and Iran have singled out the country for the murder.
