With the release of the 3rd season, the number of views of the Witcher series is experiencing a great decrease. The series lost more than 50% viewers.
The Witcher series, which was once thought to replace Game of Thrones, is experiencing great disappointment in its 3rd season. There is a dramatic decrease in the number of views for the Witcher series. Things don’t seem to be going well for Netflix. Angry fans of the show have been highly critical of the show in user reviews, especially after Henry Cavill’s departure.
Dramatic decrease in the number of views for the Witcher series
Samba TV reports that 1.1 million households in the US watched the premiere, a 15% drop from season 2. In addition, the drop rate continues to increase as the episodes progress.
The number of viewers according to the episodes of the series is as follows:
- Episode 1 – 1.1 million viewers
- Part 2 – 893K
- Chapter 3 – 760K
- Chapter 4 – 602K
- Chapter 5 – 505K
The first five episodes of the series were broadcast simultaneously. However, when we look at the number of views of the episodes, there is a 50 percent decrease between the first episode and the fifth episode. In short, the show lost half of its audience. All eight episodes of The Witcher season 2 attracted more than 1 million viewers per episode in their first week.
Henry Cavill leaves his place to Liam Hemsworth in the 4th and 5th seasons of the series. If viewership is already dropping this much, we can be sure that it will drop even more when Cavill is gone. But Netflix is determined to finish the source story no matter what.
