A 24-year-old Alvinston woman killed in a collision this week on a rural Lambton County road is being remembered as a sweet, caring person and a dedicated nurse.

Victoria Dew, who died after a two-car crash Monday morning at Rokeby Line and Inwood Road in Brooke-Alvinston, was also a gentle person who loved cats and helping vulnerable people through her career as a registered practical nurse, her obituary says.

“She was a beautiful soul taken from us too early and will be missed for eternity by so many amazing people,” it reads.

She leaves “a devastated wake of family,” the obituary added.

There’s been an outpouring on social media by family and friends over Dew’s sudden loss.

“You were such a beautiful, smart, kind-hearted, animal-loving girl and so young with many goals in life,” fellow nurse Amanda Murphy wrote on Facebook. “Life is so unfair, it shows us things change in the blink of an eye. You will be missed by so many, Vic.”

“I am speechless. The world is a cruel place,” another nurse, Shayna Perry, wrote on Facebook. “Victoria, you’re a special one that will be missed deeply.”

A private service will be held for Dew, who studied nursing at St. Clair College in Windsor, her Facebook page said. Donations in her memory may be directed to the Sarnia and District Humane Society, her obituary said.

Several flowers and a note addressed to Dew have been placed at the scene of the crash in her memory. Relatives could not be reached Thursday.

No charges are expected to be laid in the crash, a Lambton OPP spokesperson said by email Thursday. The other driver was uninjured.

The collision came four days after a Petrolia resident, 61, died after crashed at Marthaville Road and Courtright Line in Enniskillen Township and about two months after a 31-year-old Petrolia man died in a single-car crash in Brooke-Alvinston.
