The BBC has suspended its presenter who allegedly bought sexually suggestive images from a minor. Greater London Police are investigating.
The British Broadcasting Corporation BBC will meet with the Greater London Police today to discuss the case of the suspended TV presenter. The BBC has suspended its famous TV presenter after he was accused of buying sexually suggestive images from a minor. There have been reports about it, for example The Guardian and BBC.
A well-known male host is accused of buying sexually suggestive images from a minor for three years. The man is said to have paid the victim a total of 35,000 pounds, or about 41,100 euros, for the photos. The alleged victim is said to have financed his drug use by selling pictures.
Greater London Police confirmed to The Guardian that it is in discussions with the BBC about the incident, but has not been formally charged in connection with the incident.
– We need more information before we can decide on possible further actions, the police told the British newspaper.
He was the first to tell about the presenter’s charges the Sun, which published an interview with the alleged victim’s mother on Friday. The suspended host has not been named, but according to media sources, it is a “familiar face”.
The alleged victim’s mother informed the BBC of the allegations back in May, but the presenter continued to work until The Sun reporters approached the BBC for comment last week. Greater London Police learned of the charges last week, but more detailed discussions with the BBC will take place this week.
BBC announced in a statement released on Sunday that they are investigating the events as soon as possible so that they can inform about future actions.
– The BBC found out about the accusations against the presenter for the first time in May. On Thursday, new, different charges were brought to our attention. In addition to our own investigations, we have also been in contact with external authorities in accordance with our practices, the statement said.
The BBC said it expects to have more information on the matter in the coming days.
