It is generally recommended to make the bed first thing when you wake up in the morning. Contrary to this advice, Martin Seeley, CEO of MattressNextDay, which has expertise in sleep and mattress science for nearly 40 years, warned that the bed should not be made first thing in the morning.
According to research conducted by scientists, approximately 1500000 (one million five hundred thousand) dust mites are activated as soon as you get out of bed and start making beds.
Dust mites feed on the pieces of skin shed from our bodies, and when you start making the bed, the party begins for the dust mites too.
Thus, they can reproduce more easily and live longer. Dust mites can cause asthma, bronchitis, eczema, hay fever and other allergic diseases.
Scientists’ advice is to leave the bed as it is and let it air out for a while. Otherwise, you may gather at least one and a half million dust mites and cause them to threaten your health.
