Danish police have found a 13-year-old girl alive who disappeared on Saturday. A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. The police say that they also made other arrests during Sunday.

– We have very recently been able to inform the girl’s parents that we have found her alive, police inspector Kim Kliver says the Danish public broadcasting company DR in a live broadcast.

Kliver did not provide further information about the girl’s condition. However, he is said to be conscious.

The Danish police have so far not commented on what has happened to the girl or what crime the arrested man is possibly suspected of.

The police also do not agree to provide additional information about the relationship between the girl and the suspect.

– We need time so that we can investigate the matter in peace, police inspector Kliver says.

Sub-Inspector of Police Rune Dahl Nilsson says that the police broke into the apartment on Sunday, where they found the missing girl and the 32-year-old suspect. The arrest took place just before three o’clock local time, which delayed the press conference planned for three o’clock.

Feeling relieved, Kliver said during the press conference that the police had already had time to prepare for giving slightly different information.

The disappearance triggered a major operation

More than 300 police officers and a large number of volunteers participated in an extensive search operation in the southwestern part of Denmark’s main island of Sjælland.

The search focused on the area between the village of Sørbymagle and Fuglebjerg, where the girl disappeared.

The girl was at work on Saturday handing out magazines when she disappeared. The police later found his bicycle, bag and phone. After this, the girl was suspected of being the victim of a crime.

Later, the Danish police cordoned off the house near the place of disappearance and the surrounding area, where they carried out extensive examinations on Sunday.
