A $1.5 million Buddha statue was stolen from a gallery in Los Angeles!

According to the statement made by the Los Angeles Police, the Buddha statue, weighing approximately 114 kilograms and worth 1.5 million dollars, was stolen from the Barakat Gallery where it was exhibited on September 18.

In the incident captured on security cameras, it is seen that the thieves came to the gallery with a truck and loaded the statue in the backyard of the gallery into the truck.

Fayez Barakat, the owner of the gallery, stated in his statement to the local press that the statue was very valuable and said, “This statue was previously in the backyard of my house, then we brought this statue to the backyard of the gallery so that everyone could see and admire it.” said.

Barakat noted that he bought the work from the Edo Period (1603-1867) in Japan 55 years ago.

Los Angeles Police announced that no one has been detained yet regarding the incident and that security camera recordings in the area were examined. (AA)
