Why are bees so useful

We are talking more and more about bees which tend to disappear from orchards and gardens. This is a very serious problem because without these insects, many plants could no longer reproduce. Protect them in your flower beds!

By foraging on a wide variety of plants, bees play a key role in the production of our daily food.

How can these insects help you?

If these insects were to disappear, gigantic famines would occur because most cultivated plants could no longer be fertilized!

L’bee is indeed a hymenoptera which lands on a flower and plunges its head deep into the corollas. Its legs feverishly part the stamens. She hurries and visits the nearby flowers. She thus forages a multitude ofspecies vegetables while carrying an essential pollen.

How to help these insects in their work?

Respect the bees that frequent your garden as much as possible. Don’t be afraid of their bites and, to avoid them, just be careful where you put your hands! Also avoid sudden gestures, which risk frightening them and placing them in an atmosphere of self-defense.

You can even attract these valuable insects by growing so-called melliferous plantssuch as acacia, ivy, trefoil, thyme and basswood. A book by Yves Darricau, Plant trees for bees (Terran Editions, 224 pages) will tell you more about your choice.
