“In the first season, we were under the radar. We wanted it to work but there was no particular expectation from the public. There, we find ourselves with this poisoned gift which is this historic audience score. It’s great but now we have extra pressure on our shoulders. This score skews the relationship to success a bit, it was so crazy, it sets the bar so high.” As a reminder, HPI’s audiences were insane when it was broadcast last year: 11.5 million viewers watched the first season on average. Synopsis – Morgane, 38, is a single mother of three children. This rebellious personality, with an IQ of 160, works as a cleaning lady at the police station. Her life will completely change when her deduction skills and her intelligence are spotted by the police, who offer her to become a consultant… while Morgane hates the police!
Audrey Fleurot camps the heroine of HPI, Morgane Alvaro. A jubilant role for the actress previously seen in Le Bazar de la Charité: “It’s very cathartic to play such an excessive, funny character, with this completely outrageous dress look. It’s something that I couldn’t assume in life,” she said in an interview with 20 minutes. To prepare to embody an HPI (high intellectual potential) character, the actress inquired on the Internet, and benefited from the knowledge and documentation of the co-creator and co-screenwriter Alice Chegaray-Breugnot, whose father is also HPI. But Audrey Fleurot would like to remind you: “We do not pretend to make a documentary on HPI.” She hasn’t had any training to play a police consultant either.
The French actress, previously seen in Le Bazar de la Charité and Engrenages, invested herself in the creation of HPI, pushing the creators to choose Mehdi Nebbou to embody her on-screen partner. And you may not know it, but Audrey Fleurot’s companion is also involved in HPI. Djibril Glissant, his companion in the city, has indeed participated in the writing of the series during season 1, as was able to entrust the actress in an interview with Nous deux. “We worked together for the first time and it was very nice,” she said. The couple met a few years ago in a tango class. Together they had a son, born in 2015.
In the casting, we find well-known actors for the faithful of TF1, starting with Audrey Fleurot (Engranges, A French village, Le Bazar de la Charité) who plays the protagonist. Mehdi Nebbou (The Office of Legends) plays Lieutenant Adam Karadec, who will have to channel this rebellious protagonist. Faced with the colossal success of the first burst of episodes, HPI was unsurprisingly offered a season 2. This is broadcast on TF1 from May 12, 2022.
